The Greenvale Kangaroos (North Melbourne CC) are saddened to learn of the passing of Francis Timothy (Frank) Murphy who passed away recently aged 85.
Frank (#277) played 117 1st XI games with North Melbourne between 1951/52 and 1965/66. He amassed 2380 runs averaging 15.55, with a highest score of 101 - his only century, against Northcote in 1962. He also made 10 scores of 50+. Frank took 8 wickets as a part time bowler @ 24.50 with a best of 3/21.
Frank won the 2nd XI batting average in 1964/65. Frank was a long-standing Committee-person. He was the Club’s President from 1982/83 through to 1994/95 and a delegate to Cricket Victoria. He was the inaugural President with the North Melbourne / Geelong merged Club in 1985/86 which ran for three seasons. For his years of dedicated service, Frank was awarded Life Member of the Club
Frank was also awarded Life Membership of Cricket Victoria in 1994/95.
