Kangaroos to join Women’s Premier Cricket from 2022-23
Date of Event Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club : Mon Jun 28, 2021 1:12PM

Everyone at the Club is naturally thrilled and quite proud to be invited by Cricket Victoria to join the Women’s Premier Cricket Competition from the 2022-23 Season.

The elevation to Women’s Premier Cricket will see our Club as only the 10th Club playing in the Women’s Premier Cricket Competition in Victoria and only the 7th Club playing in both the Women’s and Men’s Premier Competitions.

The announcement by Cricket Victoria is a great reward for the Club, our Women’s Coach Catherine Morrow, Committee Members Carmel Barone & Jill Boundy, and our players. They have strived so hard to grow women’s cricket, our junior teams and raise the standard over the last few years.

The elevation to the Women’s Premier competition will allow our players to play at the top level of Club cricket in Victoria and, hopefully, over the next few years to vie for promotion to the State and WBBL teams.

Importantly, the Clubs entry to Women’s Premier Cricket will provide an ideal and convenient pathway for every female cricketer in Hume and across the north west of Melbourne. If their talent allows, they will be able to play at the highest possible level.

Our club will be very welcoming to female players intending to join the Women’s Premier Cricket pathway. The players will be under the supervision of experienced Coaches and would enjoy the collegiate environment. Our submission to join Women’s Premier Cricket was fully supported by the Hume City Council. Indeed, it is Hume’s support for sport, including female cricket, that enables the Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club to assure female players that its training facilities are equal to the best in Melbourne or Victoria for that matter

I encourage anyone interested in joining our Women’s program, or would like more information, to contact our Women’s Coordinator Carmel Barone (0407 885 688)

With best regards,

Bruce Kent
